Whatever the nature of difficulty you encounter while you are in Botswana, we encourage you to make contact with the high commission using addresses above. We would come to your assistance.
We can:
- Give advice on local issues affecting your safety.
- In an emergency, issue passports and other documents.
- Tell you how to transfer money.
- Advise you on local doctors, lawyers and interpreters.
- Liaise with your insurance provider in the event that medical attention is required.
- Arrange for next of kin to be told in the event you are in trouble and advise on procedures.
- Visit you if you have been arrested or put in prison. In certain circumstances we can arrange for messages to be sent to relatives or friends.
We cannot:
- Intervene in court cases.
- Get you out of prison.
- Give legal advice.
- Investigate a crime.
- Pay your hotel, legal, medical or any other bill.
- Do work normally done by travel agents, airlines, banks or motoring organisation.
- Get you somewhere to live, a job, in country visa or work permit.
We encourage you to live in accordance with the laws of the land.
